Delta Airlines plane accident at Toronto airport leaves at least 18 injured
A Delta Airlines aircraft, arriving from Minneapolis, crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada on Monday, February 17, 2025. The incident resulted in at least 18 injuries, three of them in critical condition.
The aircraft, a Bombardier Regional Jet, flipped over and landed upside down on the runway. Images of the accident show the plane surrounded by snow, with smoke coming from the fuselage as passengers were being evacuated.
Among the critically injured is a minor who was airlifted to Toronto’s Children’s Hospital. Additionally, a 60-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were transported to local hospitals due to the severity of their injuries.
Toronto Pearson temporarily suspended takeoff and landing operations following the accident. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Canada’s Transport Minister, Anita Anand, stated that she is closely monitoring the situation. Although weather conditions had improved on Monday, the region had previously experienced heavy snowfall, which could have contributed to the accident.
